Final Evaluation

Overall I am really happy with all of my final images, I feel that they are all successful in meeting the brief I was set. I also feel that I explored a range of ideas, and instead of using images from only one of my photo shoots I decided to use two images from each shoot that I did for this brief.

For the first shoot I used the idea of the tent as a home and incorporated it with camping and the idea of festivals. I had my model doing a variety of homely activities such as drinking tea to add to the concept of being at home. I also used props to add to the concept of home.

My second shoot didn’t have as much of a link with home as the first shoot but it was located near to my home in Cheshire, it had a stronger link with the element of fashion as the pose, model and clothes were the main focus. I had some really strong images within this shoot. I also felt that my model looked comfortable and natural in this environment.

My third shoot was located in an abandoned house or building near my home this is how the shoot linked to the theme of home. The poses used were reminiscent of those often found in fashion photography and I feel that they worked well, again I felt that the model looked comfortable in the environment and very natural.

I am really happy with the styling for all three shoots, working with fashion and brand promotion student Clare Ryan really helped and together we came up with some great outfits to fit the boho/festival theme I had set. My research also really helped with this.

My research also helped me when it came to thinking of how I wanted the hair and make up and with choosing the model. I was really happy with the final out come of the makeup and hair, it looked natural and reminiscent of how someone might look at a festival, it wasn’t fussy and suited the model and theme well.

I was also really happy with my choice of model, looking back at my final photographs I feel that she was a great choice for these photo shoots. I have worked with her previously and she is really good at taking direction and is very comfortable in front of the camera. Her look was perfect for these images and she was willing to try new poses and experiment in the locations provided.

I feel that I showed development throughout my blog and provided not only one shoot but three, each exploring a different idea relating to the theme provided. I enjoyed working in the form of a blog and am happy with the final out come. Its easy to keep track of where you are up to and you can post something whenever you are on the internet and you come up with an idea.

Personally I feel that my technical skills are improving and I think that this shows in my final images. I was much more comfortable using the camera and editing the final images where was needed. I also got to grips with preparing my images for professional printing.

Final image 6

I chose this image as one of my final images, I also chose not to manipulate it in any way. Again this image relates to home due to its location (my garden), the tent, and the activity you would do at home: reading the newspaper. Its also very fashion based as alot of focus is on the clothes they are not only on the model but at the front of the tent. I used props such as the cakes and cookie jar to add to the idea of being at home. I think this image also strongly resembles a festival due to the tent location, model and clothing.

Final image 5

This image fits in with the theme of home and fashion as the main focus is on the tent as a temporary home and the clothes. It also fits in as the model is captured doing an activity you would normally do at home: drink tea and the location is my back garden. The clothes and accessories are not only on the model but also outside the tent its self. I like how the bright colours and vivid pattern of the tent provide a strong contrast with the rural green surroundings. The model looks natural and as though she is at a festival, or 'Glamping' (see research). I also chose not to edit this image.

Final image 4

Again I chose not to edit this photograph. I chose it as one of my final images because I feel that it fits the theme well, the location is an abandoned house or building and is close to my home. I really like how the model is posed leaning out of the window and how the window and ivy frame her. she looks very natural in these surroundings and I feel that the image is successful. Again the clothes contrast with the surrounding but in this image it more about the model and location than the clothes as not much of the clothes can be seen.

Final image 3

I decided not to edit this photograph. I chose this as one of my final images and feel that it fits in well with the theme of home and fashion, the location is an abandoned building or house and is close to my home in Cheshire. The pose is very much like a pose that you would associate with fashion imagery, the model also has a really strong model aesthetic. I like how the model is posed and the composition of the image. I also really like how the bold print is juxtaposed with the colours of the surroundings, I also think that the ivy is a really great touch to this image.

Final image 2

The first image is the original and the second is the edited image. I removed some distracting bubbles and white flecks in the water for this image to avoid them distracting the viewers attention. I am really happy with the models pose in this image, she looks comfortable however this pose is also quite reminiscent of a high fashion image. again the hair and makeup look natural and fit in with the location and the clothes stand out due to their prints and colours. The image fits with the theme as the location is near to my home and the model looks 'at home' or comfortable in this image. I like the composition and the fact that she is floating on the raft in the water.

Final image 1

I chose this image as one of my final images, the first image is the original and the second id the edited version. I edited this image using photoshop, I removed anything that would distract the viewers attention. I removed flecks in the water and two small pales stones near one of the models feet.
This image fits in with the theme as the location is situated near my home, I also feel it fits in with the theme of home because she looks calm and at ease as you would at home.
Her actions in this image show her almost bonding with natural this fits in with the idea of looking natural and being at home in her environment.
Although you cant see the models face I am still happy with this image it looks as though she doesnt know the camera is there. The composition is good and the clothing stands out against the rural location.

Shoot three

Overall I am really happy with this photo shoot. I think that the location has a really strong link with the theme of home as this building was perhaps a home, its also only a 5 minute walk from my home.
The model looks great in these images she has s strong model aesthetic and its in with the natural look i was going for in these images, the makeup and hair look really natural.
Also the outfit fits in well with the boho/festival theme, not only that but the bold prints and colours stand out against the brick and rural setting.
I feel that I have some really strong images within this shoot.

Shoot three

These are some of my favorite images from this photo shoot, i feel that they all fit in with the theme well and that the location, model and outfit work really well for this theme.

Shoot three

For this set of images I chose to shoot at an abandoned house not far from my house in cheshire, this fits in well with the theme. Again I used the same model and the same theme of dress, hair and makeup. Although the building is man made it also has a sense of the rural with the trees and over grown plants.

Shoot two

These are some of my favorite images from this shoot, i think that they look really natural and im really happy with my model and location in these photographs.

Shoot two

Overall I am really happy with these images, they dont have as much of a strong link with home as my previous shoot however they are where i live and fell they work well. She looks at home in the environment and quite natural.
I also had a look through some magazines to try and get a better idea of poses to use and feel that i have used some really effective poses. I used the same model as i feel that she works well in this type of work, and this shows in the images. I also feel that the clothing suits the theme i was going for well and also suits the environment and model.
To me this has quite a strong link to home, although to most viewers it probably wouldnt, not only is it so close to my home but its somewhere i feel at home, calm and comfortable.

Shoot two

Although I am very happy with my first shoot I also decided to do a second shoot for this brief and make use of a good location.
This photo shoot was done on a lane at the back of my house, its very rural looking and an interesting location.
I decided to stick with the boho/festival style dress, i included wellies for example in this shoot, this also fits in with the rural location. I Kept the models make up and hair natural to fit in with the natural environment. I chose a printed tunic dress for this shoot, it was a little long so i hoisted it up with a worn brown belt. I chose the strong print and vibrant colour not only because it fits in with the theme of dress but also because its a strong contrast against the browns and greens of the location.

Shoot one

These three images are some of my favorite ones from this shoot. They incorporate the idea of home in both the tent and the activities taking place, for example reading a newspaper is something you might do at home. The images are taken in my back garden and i feel that the location fits well with the theme as in the images it looks similar to a campsight and its in the country side. These also fit in well with the boho/festival theme, i also used a variety of poses in these images.

Shoot one

The first photo shoot that i did for this brief was based around the idea of the tent as a home. The location of the shoot was also at my home, I used my back garden.
For this shoot I kept with the clothing theme of boho and festival dress.I included activities that you would normally do at home such as reading the newspaper or having a cup of tea.
Overall I feel i have some really strong images, and am pleased with my model, styling and choice of location. I feel that my images work well and incorporate both the idea of a festival and the idea of home. However the sun was very bright on the day that I did this shoot and I do feel that this has effected some of my images significantly, and had the lighting been different they might have been better.

Final outfit selection

I chose this as one of my final outfits for my photo shoot. I think that this outfit fits in very well with the festival theme of dress. It is very similar to some of the outfits in my research. I will team this outfit with worn military style boots similar to the ones above.

I chose this as one of my final outfits for the shoot. The prints fit in well with my boho theme, the dress was a little bit to long so I hoisted it up using a worn brown belt. for the shoot I will team the dress with wellies and beaded bracelets.

Outfit selection

For this photo shoot I worked with 1st year fashion and brand promotion student Clare Ryan, she helped me with styling the shoot and coming up with different poses.
Together we put together a few Boho or festival outfits that I could include in my Home photo shoot.
These outfits include a lot of prints and denims that fit in well with the boho/festival theme.

Hair and Make up

I chose to try a gold plaited hair band around the models head, this fitted in well with my boho clothing theme. However I dont think that I will be using it in my final shoot as it doesnt fit in with the natural look I was going for.

Overall I am going for a very natural look for my model. The hair needs to look natural, I decided to give the models blond hair a natural wave and put a very loose plait along one side.
The make up also needs to look natural so I decided to use natural looking foundation and blusher, a subtle eye shadow and just a hint of mascara.
Over all the look is very natural and looks at ease and un fussy.

Further research

This image features a tent like I would like to include in some of my images for this brief.
